Diving in the Red Sea began in the 1950s when Greek and Italian workers started spearfishing while in Egypt. The Austrian zoologist Dr. Hans Hass, a famous underwater filmmaker, and the famous French diver Jacques Cousteau explored the Red Sea with its amazing coral reefs that are a magnet for thousands of species.
Diving has evolved since then. Today you will find fully equipped facilities, liveaboards, a variety of programs and internationally certified instructors. Red Sea resorts such as Hurghada, Sharm El-Sheikh, Marsa Alam, El Gouna and Taba are wonderful destinations that offer year-round diving vacation packages and facilities due to their moderate temperatures. It does not matter if you have never dived before, if you are a beginner or a veteran, you will find the right program for you and will surely come back again and again.
