The Luxor Museum - Tourism

14 December 2022

The two-story Luxor Museum, overlooking the east bank of the Nile, opened in 1975 to display Luxor’s rare artifacts, including statues of pharaohs and deities. A new wing was opened in 1984 and another in 1989 under the name of “The Cache” to display the latest archeological finds discovered in the Luxor Temple. In 2004, the wing called “The Glory of Thebes” was opened. The museum also houses archeological pieces from the different historical periods of Egypt. Among the pieces on display are some of Tutankhamun’s burial objects excavated in the Valley of the Kings in 1922, including the head of the goddess Hathor and the pharaoh’s chariot.
