The mortuary temple of Ramses III features well-preserved ancient Egyptian art and architecture. Walk through the remains of the workers’ mud-brick houses at the rear of the site and then to the magnificent temples. Hatshepsut and Tuthmosis III supervised the construction of the original Temple of Amun, which was later walled into the complex by Ramses III. The entrance to this temple complex is through the unique Syrian Gate. This large building is a special feature of Madinat Habu and is decorated with huge images of Ramses III defeating the Libyans.
