Jackson Reef is the northernmost reef in the Strait of Tiran, the narrow channel that separates the Sinai Peninsula from Saudi Arabia. The dive usually starts at the southern tip of the reef, where there is a mooring, and heads north along the eastern side of the reef. The currents coming from the north make this dive quite difficult; therefore, it is recommended only for professional divers. Jackson Reef is home to an abundance of hard and soft corals and the underwater fauna is extremely diverse; you are most likely to see barracudas, stingrays and some larger predators such as hammerheads and tiger sharks feeding on smaller reef species.
