The unique St. George’s Church is the only round church that exists in Egypt. Built in the 10th century on a Roman tower of the fortified city of Babylon, the church is connected to St. George’s Monastery and is the seat of the Greek Patriarchate of Alexandria. Climb the steps along the Roman towers and see a relief of St. George slaying a dragon on the exterior stonework. Inside, austere ancient artwork adorns the church with depictions of St. George and his quest to defend Christianity.
